The Northwest Biocarbon Summit: Restoring Nature – Storing Natural Carbon
Monday, June 10, 2013, The summit runs from 9am – 5:30pm,
University of Washington’s Center for Urban Horticulture
3501 NE 41st St., Seattle, 98195

This was a day well spent!

UW geomorphologist Dr David Montgomery’s keynote presentation opened a program thoughtfully balanced between detailed and summary coverage of this still little-known key player in both the climate and land-use arenas.

There were many opportunities to hear and meet seasoned experts and activists as well as students and entrepreneurial startups.

February 17th :

[This just showed up in my inbox:

There will be a climate action solidarity rally on February 17th in Seattle. It’s going to be important to have critical mass at this event.

Forward on Climate will only be the largest climate rally in history and put enough pressure on our leaders if every single person who can make it turns out — but sometimes traveling all the way to Washington, D.C., just isn’t in the cards. Here is a list of solidarity rallies around the country:

If you absolutely can’t make it to Washington on February 17, RSVP for the rally near you!

Seattle

When: Sunday, February 17, 11:30 a.m.

Where: Golden Gardens Park (8498 Seaview Pl. NW)

What: We will take a crowd picture with our NO Fossil Fuel Exports signs and send to Gov. Inslee and Pres. Obama. At noon we will form a walking train and walk along the beach, wearing red no coal export t-shirts. Along the way we will learn about the dangers of exporting fossil fuels to our climate, waterways and local economy. Wear Red and bring something to make some noise — kazoos, tambourines, whistles, harmonicas, whatever you want!

We will joined by a special guest speaker, Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn.

It’s a bit short notice for a major turnout, but it can’t hurt to show up.]
